Fees & Insurance

Lionheart Exposure Therapy is a private pay practice, which means sessions are not billed directly to insurance.  This allows for greater flexibility in how we work together and helps ensure that treatment can stay focused on what is most helpful, rather than being limited by insurance requirements.

Session Fee

The initial intake assessment appointment is $250 (60 minutes), with follow-up appointments at $225 per 55-minute session, reflecting the specialized nature of exposure-based treatment.  Fees for extended or real-world exposure work may vary depending on session length, location, or travel involved.

Payment is due at the time of service and is processed through Ivy Pay, a secure, HIPAA-compliant payment app.  You will receive a text message to enter your card information safely, and payments are charged automatically after each session.

A limited number of sliding scale spots may be available if cost is a concern, and we can discuss options to see what may be possible.

Using Out-Of-Network Benefits

Although we do not bill insurance directly, many clients are able to use their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement.  HSA or FSA cards can also be used for payment if your plan allows.

Upon request, a superbill can be provided after each session.  A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the information insurance companies typically require, such as CPT codes and diagnosis codes.  You can submit this form to your insurance provider to request partial reimbursement for services.

Reimbursement rates vary depending on your specific plan.  Insurance companies do not always cover the full session fee, and payment is not guaranteed.

Checking Your Benefits

If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, it can be helpful to contact your insurance provider and ask:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What percentage of the fee is reimbursed?

  • Is there a deductible I need to meet first?

  • How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?
